Melissa Bayne advises clients on estate planning, wills, trusts, powers of attorney, health care directives, estate tax planning, probate, estate administration, trust administration, elder law, special needs planning, care planning, and guardianship and conservatorship. She counsels and represents individuals, couples, families, personal representatives, trustees, beneficiaries, heirs, guardians, and conservators.
Melissa began her career as a teacher, and she brings this approach to her work with clients. She aims to provide the information her clients need to make informed decisions, solve problems, and plan for the future. Melissa has extensive experience working with individuals who have special needs, cognitive impairments, traumatic brain injuries, developmental delays, autism spectrum disorders, fetal alcohol spectrum disorders, addiction, and mental health needs. She also helps connect individuals and families to resources in the community that provide supports and services.
Melissa's community service focuses on advocacy for children and adults with special needs. She has advocated for children with special needs in child protection matters for more than 18 years, as a volunteer attorney and as a volunteer guardian ad litem. She has served on the Board of Directors of River Valley Riders, a therapeutic horseback riding and carriage driving program for children and adults with special needs, and Living Well Disability Services, which provides residential and customized services to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. She currently serves on the Board of Directors of Volunteers of America Minnesota and Wisconsin, which works to build healthy communities by integrating whole-person services to address complex health, housing and human services needs.
